This is a rare vintage 14K yellow gold Match Game Show, Matchbook charm from the 1960s. This is a movable 14K gold charm, the cover of the matchbook opens and closes and locks into place. The enamel is original on the matches but does show some wear. The charm itself is in excellent condition. This is a very cool charm and it is quite a conversation piece. It would make wonderful addition to a charm bracelet or collection!
As far as this charm’s history goes, I had purchased this charm a few years ago. The person that I had bought it from had mentioned to me that it had been removed from her mother in laws charm bracelet, and that her mother in law was on a TV show called Match Game in 1963. She had written:
“I wish I could tell you more about that charm; I wish I had listened more intently when my MIL told me about all the charms on all of her bracelets! I do know for certain that she was on the Match Game in 1963, because she used her winnings of $250.00 to supplement the total cost of an original Xavier Cugat painting she purchased the next day in San Francisco.”
